Laura Alber became the CEO of Williams-Sonoma in 2010. She joined the company in 1995 as a senior buyer for its Pottery Barn subsidiary. Over the years, she held several leadership roles, most recently including as Senior Vice President of Pottery Barn Catalog and Pottery Barn Kids Retail, followed by Executive Vice President and later President of Pottery Barn — a position she held for four years. In 2006, Ms. Alber was appointed President of Williams-Sonoma.
